pushy server

A web server rigged to deliver a continuous stream of images that creates the impression of an animation on the client, or end-user screen. Currently, this is a netscape-only innovation.

grabby client

A client host rigged to receive the emissions of the previous entry.

infobahn

Also known as information superhighway, info-turnpike. A misleading metaphor that has spawned a whole familiar of similarly exhaustive metaphors, including "offramp". "onramp", "roadsign", etc.

This is a phrase with a severly limited imagination (visionary impaired) which is particularly inappropriate in reference to the evolving networks of informatio and dialogue exhange. Some how, the idea of racing along the freeway (in california, we actually do call them freeways) in my own truck, windows rolled up, eyes ahead, doesn't exactly encourage utopian visions of expression, communication or community. How many conversations have you had at 65 mph with someone in the car next to you?
